‘Pack for Success’ Gives Free Backpacks and Supplies to Students

Pack for Success, a non-profit foundation created by former island-resident Khacki Greene, now a 17 year old senior, is giving public school students in the St. Thomas-St. John District free backpacks and school supplies. The donation of over 500 backpacks began at the start of the 2009-2010 school year and will continue at a formal ceremony at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Lockhart Elementary School Library where they will be given to students.

Thefoundation received financial contributions, donated items and free shipping in order to send the backpacks filled with notebooks, paper, folders, pencils, pens, colored pencils, erasers, glue sticks, scissors and rulers. Pack for Success has a goal of increasing donations next year and getting students throughout the United States involved in similar projects.
