Area in Christiansted Harbor Designated As Transient Mooring Area

The boating community is informed that the area in Christiansted Harbor which is surrounded by Fort Louise Augusta, the Altona Lagoon Boat Access Facility and the Schooner Channel has been designated as a transient (visiting) vessel mooring area for vessels 40-60 ft. in length, according to a press release from Commissioner Robert S. Mathes of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources. Moorings for transient vessels will be installed and maintained by DPNR. Registration and payment of mooring fees will be managed by the Division of Environmental Enforcement (DEE). Transient moorings must be vacated 24-hours prior to a major storm event.
The Department requests that the owners of all vessels currently occupying this area relocate their vessels by Monday, Oct. 5, after which time their vessels will be relocated by DEE.
