Death of 19-Year-Old Deemed A Homicide

An autopsy by the medical examiner has determined 19-year-old Tameka Edwards, whose body was found two weeks ago in front of a house in Estate Contant, died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Her death has been officially ruled a homicide, according to a recent Police Department press release.

Police detectives said because the body was decomposed, they could not immediately determine the cause of death, the release stated. Detectives have said that Edwards might have been dead for more than 24 hours by the time her body was found.

The Major Crimes Bureau is following up on the case, and residents with any information are urged to call 715-5522, 715-5514 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS. The VIPD offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of any homicide suspect.
