Nita Newbold Brown Dead at 86

Nita Nola Newbold Brown

Nita Newbold Brown died in her home on St. Croix at the age 86 on Aug. 24. She was born on Nov. 29, 1922, in Hertford, North Carolina.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip Brown; daughters: Martha Haase, Jeane Miller, Leah Brown, Virginia Vanderveer, Jane Brown and Nita Maria Brown; her sons: Thomas Miller and Phillip Brown II; grandchildren: Thomas Miller II, Jason Miller, Henry Miller, Patrick Miller, Nita Marie Miller, William Haase, Alessandro Londi, Nikolai Hedegaard, Adam Webber, Katherine Vanderveer, Brittany Brown, Phillip Brown III, Taylor Brown and Libby Brown; and great-grandchildren: Madison, Luke, Finlayand Riley Miller. She is also survived by daughters-in-law: Catalina Miller and Nancy Brown; sons-in-law: Bill Haase, Allen Chace Miller and John Vanderveer; sister, Jean Griffin; and several nieces and nephews. Other survivors include special friends: Vilma Jones, Agatha Louis, Magdalena Carrasquillo, Neal/Jun-Jun Armstrong, and James and Tahirah Abubakr.
She was a much-beloved wife and mother, who dedicated her life to her family, flowers and Northside Valley. Nita loved life and lived it to the fullest. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Memorial arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Patrick’s Church in Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.
