Humane Society Holds “Barefoot Brunch With Butterflies” Fundraiser

Puppy dogs and butterflies will be featured guests at the Humane Society of St. Thomas "Barefoot Brunch with the Butterflies" fundraiser that will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30,at the Butterfly Farm on Havensight Dock. The event is co-sponsored by The Butterfly Farm and Barefoot Wines.
Along with the hundreds of exotic butterflies circling around the brunch there will be another featured guest, Trooper, the abused dog featured in a July Society advertisement. He has be renamed Ernie by his adoptive parents, HSST board member Andrea Martin and her husband Steve.
After four hours of surgery to repair a severe neck laceration caused by abuse, Ernie is fully recovered, so much so that he seems to be looking forward to his public debut Sunday in support of mistreated and malnourished Virgin Island dogs and cats.
Tickets are $15 and $5 for children 12 and younger. Included in the price is a guided tour of the farm, a champagne cocktail, wine or soft drink, and a light brunch provided by the Mahogany Run Grill Room, Breads and Cakes Bakery, Barefoot Buddha and the Fruit Bowl.
Puppies will be available for adoption and volunteers will be on hand to discuss the HSST programs including the Cat Café and the new Humane Care Campus. License plates and T-shirts will be on sale. Tickets are available at The Butterfly Farm, How ‘Bout Your Pet, Breads and Cakes Bakery, Home Again, St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce, HSST board members or at the door.
