UVI Add/Drop Period Continues Through Aug. 21
Fall semester classes at the University of the Virgin Islands began today – Monday, Aug. 17. The period during which students can add or drop classes continues through Friday, Aug. 21. For details on St. Thomas, call Enrollment Services at 693-2150 or the Admissions/Registrar’s Office at 693-1160. Dr. David Hall’s Introduction, Convocation Speeches Available on Web Site
The text of presentations made by UVI President Dr. David Hall during introductory meetings held on Aug. 10, and at the University Convocation on Aug. 14, is now available from the Presentations tab of the President’s section of the UVI Web site – www.uvi.edu. CELL to Offer International Computer Driving License Program
A nationally recognized computer certification program will once again be offered by the University of the Virgin Islands’ Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (CELL) Center. The International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Program is a globally recognized training and certification program that allows individuals to become proficient in the use of information technology. It is recognized in more than 100 countries as the standard for certification of basic computer skills.
The seven-week program starts Sept. 14. Classes will be held 6-9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the UVI-CELL Center on St. Thomas. CDL focuses on developing basic computer skills in seven areas: Basic Concepts of Information Technology, File Management, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database, Presentations, Communication and Information. Candidates who successfully complete all seven modules and pass the certification exams will receive an ICDL Certification card which serves as an achievement of fundamental knowledge in all seven computer skill areas.
