Department of Education Seeks Substitute Teachers

The Virgin Islands Department of Education is actively soliciting and accepting applications for persons interested in becoming substitute teachers as part of its ongoing effort to ensure maximum coverage, according to a release from Human Resources Director Karen L. Blyden.

“The department continues the process of recruiting highly qualified persons to fill vacancies in a number of areas; however, there also remains a need to recruit substitute teachers toward maintaining a full compliment of educators,” Blyden said. “Substitutes are assigned on an ‘as needs basis’and therefore we look to retired educators and other experienced professionals to fill the need. We invite and encourage interested persons who possess the minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or related and/or specialized field to visit our offices to explore the possibilities of becoming a substitute teacher and to complete an application.”
