Terique Soldiew of Lindbergh Bay will have to wait one more day to get his driving permit.
The Bureau of Motor Vehicles offices on St. Thomas and St. John is closed Thursday for customer service training.
The St. Croix office will receive the same training on Friday.
A paper taped to the Bureau door on St. Thomas Thursday morning said it was closed for customer service training.
The closure is due to the bureau’s employees participating in annual customer service and ethics training, according to bureau director Jerris Browne.
The staff is "being fully prepared to provide professional quality customer services," Browne said.
Customers who showed up at the bureau Thursday morning found a sign on the door stating that the bureau was closed.
"We had this planned since last week," Soldiew said. The 17-year-old Lindbergh Bay resident came with his grandmother to the bureau for his permit, so he could drive with a tutor. With the closure, they will have to arrange to come back another day.
Another lady who preferred not to provide her name said that she had called the bureau the day before, but was not informed of the closure.
