Crime Stoppers Needs Your Help

Crime Stoppers is asking the community to help the VIPD solve the following crimes, and reminds everyone that any information, no matter how insignificant, may be just what the police need to solve these cases:

  • St. Croix: Police are asking the community for information on the homicide of 43-year-old Stanislaus McIntosh, who was shot to death in Estate Campo Rico on July 13, 2009.
  • St. John: Police are still looking for a suspect in a robbery that occurred on Jan. 13, 2009, at about 10:30 p.m. in Estate Bethany. The unknown male, who was wearing all black clothing, a black mask and hat, entered a residence brandishing a gun and demanded money. There were four individuals in the home at the time.
  • St. Thomas: Police are looking for the killer of 34-year-old Jonas Milford, a native of Haiti, who was shot, and later died, during a robbery attempt in Oswald Harris court on April 6, 2009, at about 10:25 p.m.

Community members can submit tips to Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The tips are completely anonymous, and stateside operators are bilingual. Tipsters can also submit tips online at CrimeStoppersUSVI.org or by texting "USVI" plus your message to CRIMES (274637). If a tip leads to an arrest or the recovery of stolen property or illegal drugs, the tipster receives a cash reward to be paid according to their instructions. Only anonymous callers to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards.

Crime Stoppers is pleased to report that, since our launch in January, we have received 244 tips from the community, and 25 of those tips have resulted in 36 arrests and the recovery of 21 illegal weapons. If you have submitted a tip please check to see if you are entitled to a reward. Crime Stoppers USVI is run entirely by volunteers, and relies on the community’s donations to pay rewards. To donate, visit CrimeStoppersUSVI.org.
