Dear Source:
Leasing a desalination plant is an expensive undertaking when funds are not readily available in the present economic downturn. It’s like throwing money down a well. Lease money could be more wisely spent in developing the water resources of the freshwater lens existing below the ground on the Island. The unit water price would be far cheaper than desalinated water from a leased diesel plant.
In addition, when the wells are drilled on the Island, the government will use solar power to run the pumps, thus creating another means of substantial savings. After the wells are drilled, they become the property of the government and the people…..more large savings….and no lease to pay.
Please contact me for further guidance on development of your freshwater lens. The citizens of St. Croix are walking on an underground "goldmine" everyday without realizing it. jcgrinberg@yahoo.com
