TRAXCO Marks Father’s Day with Nine-Race Card

June 20, 2009 — TRAXCO has put together what should prove a very exciting and well-matched nine-race card for Sunday’s Father’s Day races at the Randall “Doc” James Racetrack.
The card will feature some 10 horses making their debut on the Virgin Islands' big track. One of the two races that fans will be paying special attention to is the 7 ½ furlongs open fifth race for mares and fillies with a purse of $3,700. Look Up Look Up (116) has proven a game campaigner, having beaten Bold Cleo — arguably the best mare in the territory. Destiny's Arrival (116) won her debut last time out looking very good in doing so. Her Baby Blues (116) also won last time out; she is the speed of the race and should take the early lead. Amazing Cat (116) will be up against it here but anything can happen.
This brings us to the two newcomers, Beautifly and Essence of Danzig. Beautifly (118), out of the popular Felix stables, was rumored to have been brought in to challenge Bold Cleo of St. Thomas for the Virgin Islands top mare honors. The word is still out on Essence of Danzig (114) — race fans will have to wait until Sunday to see what she brings to the table.
Race eight will be the main event. This race is for class I-1, run at a distance of 7 ½ furlongs for a purse of $4,200 and will include all of the latest challengers that have come to the territory to try and unseat the Virgin Islands champ, Carse.
Making their debut on Sunday will be three heavy hitters in Fancy Silver (118), Limey (118), and Lost River (115). They will be going up against Soul Spirit (117), a very game second in his debut last race day; Green Sand (118), the speed of the race and the one to catch; Gallego (115), the old warrior who always seems to spring an upset in big races; and the somewhat suspect, Unbridled Legend (117).
Fancy Silver and Limey are alleged to be big-time campaigners as well, here for the sole purpose, it is said, of dethroning Carse. Lost River is also considered a good horse, if not in the class of the other two debutantes.
