St. Croix Rotary West Honors Father of the Year

June 18, 2009 — Clifford Alexander Christian, affectionately known as “Cliffco,” was named 2009 Father of the Year by St. Croix Rotary West this week at the club's tenth annual Father’s Day Recognition Ceremony.
“He is always available to give wise counsel to his fellowmen should they seek his advice,” Lloyd Daniels, chairman of Rotary West Family Committee said in the club's announcement of Christian's selection. “For much of his life, he has been dedicated to serving others without recompense,” Daniels said.
A Rotarian since 1974, Christian is credited with being the only Rotarian who served as president for three terms. An educator, he began his long career in 1963 as a teacher at the Charles H. Emanuel Elementary School and retired in 1994 after serving 18 years as principal of the former Grove Place School, now the Eulalie R. Rivera Elementary School.
Described as a loving, kind and civic-minded individual, Christian has been the chairman of the Police Civilian Board, a member of the V.I. Emblem Commission, a delegate to the third V.I. Constitutional Convention and a member of the Board of Election.
Christian is the father of four sons: Wayne, Clyve, Chayne and Carlos, and four daughters: Cleone, Christina, Karen and Carol, has 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
