Fish and Wildlife Hosts Free Fishing Clinic for Young People

June 13, 2009 – The Department of Planning and Natural Resources' Division of Fish and Wildlife on St. Thomas presents a Free Kids Fishing Clinic for children ages 5-16. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, July 18, at Joseph Aubain Ball Park. Registration will open at 9 a.m. on the day of the event.
The free clinic will teach young people the basics in environmental stewardship, fishing ethics, angling skills and safety. In addition, environmental displays will provide kids with a unique chance to experience Virgin Islands marine life first hand. It is designed to show kids the vulnerability of our marine resources and how to become a better resource user.
Fishing equipment will be provided for participants. A limited amount of rods and reels will be given out on a first-come first-serve basis. All participants must be accompanied by an adult.
Persons or companies interested in sponsoring or volunteering at the clinic should call Ruth Gomez or Mekisha George at 775-6762.
