Brief: Hearing Set for Monday in Shootout Probe

May 31, 2009 — An emergency internal affairs hearing has been scheduled Monday for a female police officer put on administrative leave with pay following a Saturday morning shootout in Estate Bovoni.
The officer was reportedly nearby when shots were fired in the area around 7 a.m. Saturday, but at this point police do not know whether she fired them or was otherwise involved in the incident. (See "Police Probe Gunfire Incident In Bovoni.")
"We are moving forward aggressively with this," Police Commissioner-designee Novelle Francis Jr. said Sunday evening, adding that the officer will appear Monday before District Police Chief Rodney Querrard Sr. The Attorney General's Office and the police department's Criminal Investigation Bureau have also been involved in the ongoing investigation, he said.
