It was Training that made the Firemen and Women who with duty subdued the fiery flames on Mountain Top throughout that mournful night. Ironically, our Govt has yet to provide an Official Training Academy for these brave "Smoke Eaters". I recall when my father taught those same people now at the top of Fire Services today and his plan to restore the Danish Water Catchments around the islands just for fire safety sake, and
His objections to partial inspections such as the way Mountain Top and other multi-leased properties are handled and His Keeping of constant contact with Water Haulers especially during "dry season" He was also a Taxi Operator and cherished the view from Mountain Top deary.
I would like to speak on behalf of Rudy Jennings and advise our government administration once and for all to revamp the Fire Services division to include a proper training facility, staff and maintenance crew. To Remove, cite or condemn old wooden delapidated structures, promote Fire Safety in schools and throughout the Year in Public Service Ads, keep all Inspections Up to date, Enforce and monitor Building Codes and the individuals who conduct Fire Safety inspections.
I know he would want these words to be heard as he often discussed these matters with me prior to my selection of career choice in Public Service. He is gone, but his words…are here, will anyone listen?
