One Dead, One Wounded in Smith Bay Shooting

May 18, 2009 — Police responding to a call of shots fired Sunday night found one man dead and another wounded in the area of Lakes Chicken Fry and the Lexus Night Club in Smith Bay.
The shooting occurred around 11:18 p.m. Sunday, according to a V.I. Police Department news release. One victim was found lying on the walkway to Lexus Night Club. Emergency medical technicians examined him and said he had no vital signs. His body was transported to Schneider Regional Medical Center.
Meanwhile, a second gunshot victim was also taken to the hospital. The man told Major Crimes detectives that he had heard several shots being fired in the area, and realized later that he had been hit. The man was hit once in the back, according to Police Chief Rodney Querrard. (To hear the chief's report, click here.)
The investigation into the case is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information on the shooting to call the VIPD's Criminal Investigation Bureau at 715-5522 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
