Outrage Over 'In-House' Terrorism

Dear Source:
There are precious few that show the "outrage" that our Governor was suddenly hit with during the time John Walsh was in town, but after many violent crimes had occurred. Few show much concern over any of the violence that is rampant on our island. Not only during this Carnival did no one particularly react to the shootings and stabbings, other than to express that their personal fun was ruined, but, several years ago, there was hardly a community ripple of emotion when a little girl's body had recently been discovered, right before the "fun" started. Carnival erased nearly everyone's thoughts of this poor child and her family, and how a thing like this could happen. It appears that our community is calloused to this increasing violence, as long as it doesn't seem to affect us too personally, or the fun we expect to have.
What became of the Governor's TV exposure induced outrage? Who didn't anticipate a shooting during J"Ouvert? Who doesn't expect this to continue to the point that it does affect any and every one of us, and very personally, very soon? Even those that keep their head well buried in the sand have a real good chance of being shot in the other extremity, if this is allowed to escalate. And, it appears that the few that care are far out numbered by the guns, the bullets, and certainly the number of those who are being injured and killed on our streets.
The police are throwing it back to the community to "come forward", but until there is a real and present show of protection and service from our government and the police, few will be the number that stands up against this form of in-house terrorism. Until our police force, trained, equipped and paid to handle this work, decides to make an all out effort… to put pro-action in effect rather than the usual too little, too late, reaction…it is going to escalate. How many school children shot on a bus will it take for our Governor to get outraged, again?
