Thursday’s Third Stabbing Victim in ‘Bad Shape’ at Hospital

April 30, 2009 – After two stabbings and a shooting caused Police officials to halt Thursday morning’s J’ouvert celebration, a fourth incident has left an unidentified man in critical condition at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.
At 12:43 p.m. Police were called to the vicinity of Roosevelt Park where they found the stabbing victim with multiple wounds to his upper body, Police spokeswoman Melody Rames said late Thursday afternoon.
She said the noontime incident was not related to any of the other incidents.
According to information he received, Police Commissioner James McCall said the victim was seated in his vehicle on the passenger side when some one related to him walked up to the car and stabbed him several times.
Rudette Christopher, 48, of Estate Thomas has been arrested and charged with assault and possession of a deadly weapon – an ice pick, Rames said early Thursday evening. Bail was set at $85,000.
Sam Topp, hospital spokesman, said the victim suffered several stab wounds, the worst of which was through his lung. "He was in bad shape," Topp said.
