Schneider Regional Medical Center Hosts Joint Medical Conference

April 26, 2009 – The 4th Cleveland Clinic/Schneider Regional Medical Center Annual Conference will be held on May 8 and 9, in the Bennie and Martha Benjamin Medical Auditorium at the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute. The conference provides continuing medical education to medical staff and other healthcare professionals in areas of recent advanced treatment, technology and current trends in the medical profession. The objective of these conferences is to maintain a competitive medical staff and healthcare delivery system. The conference session on May 8, is scheduled for 6-9 pm. On May 9, the session runs from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
The healthcare specialists scheduled to make presentations includes Cynthia Bither, RN, MSN, ANP, ACNP, of the Washington Hospital Center. The topics will be Care of the Advanced Heart Failure Patient, and Ultrafiltration of the Patient with Cardiorenal Syndrome. Also presenting will be John Donohue, M.D. of Cleveland Clinic, to discuss Rheumatoid Arthritis and to provide Lupus Updates. Of significant local interest will be the presentation on Ciguatera (fish poisoning) by Clayton Wheatley, M.D. of Schneider Regional Medical Center. Colorectal Cancer Screening, and Conquering the Last Frontier of Luminal Endoscopy will be the subjects of lectures by Roger Charles, M.D. of Cleveland Clinic. Washington Hospital Center’s Leslie Kingslow, M.D. will present Pulmonary Hypertension: Diagnostic Strategies and Evidence for Current Therapy. Others who will be making presentations at the conference include Mercedes Dullum, M.D., a cardiac thoracic surgeon at Cleveland Clinic, who will discuss Valvular Disease; Margarita Camacho, M.D., a cardiologist at the St. Barnabas Heart Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, whose topic is the Left Ventricular Assist Device; and Kendall Griffith, M.D., cardiologist at the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital, who will discuss Cardiomyopathies.
This program is approved for CME/CEU credits by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). There is no conference fee. To register, contact Marilyn Ayala, executive assistant to the medical staff at SRMC, at 776-8311, ext. 2317.
