Brief: Drainage System, Water Supply in Works for Carnival

April 14, 2009 — Just in time for Carnival, the Department of Public Works is installing a wastewater-drainage system on the south side of the Fort Christian parking lot to accommodate Carnival booth owners.
A potable water supply is also being installed for the booth owners, according to Government House spokesman Jean Greaux. The construction, which began last weekend, should be completed within the next two or three days, he said.
Traditionally Carnival Village is held at the lot. This year's Village, Chummy's Culinary Kitchen, will open at 6 p.m. April 27. (See "One Recession Don't Stop No Show: Carnival Coming April 12.")
