Agriculture/UVI Seek Persons Interested in Beekeeping

April 4, 2009 – The V.I. Department of Agriculture and the University of the Virgin Islands’ Cooperative Extension Service are seeking participants for the next series of training activities of the Virgin Fresh Beekeeping Project. The primary goal of this project is to promote the development of a viable apicultural (beekeeping) industry by training a cadre of entrepreneurs who will subsequently develop beekeeping enterprises in the territory.
Interested persons should submit a letter of application to Daniel Stanley, marketing director, V.I. Department of Agriculture at No. 1 Estate Lower Love, Kingshill, VI 00850 or fax it to 778-7977. Letters of application should clearly describe an interest in beekeeping, purpose for involvement in the project, time availability, and the applicant’s proposed goals as a beekeeper upon the completion of training.
