Is the value of a mega ship coming in for 'short term gain' today worth more than the degradation and 'long term loss' that the dredging will create for tomorrow?
These are hard choices, particularly in the current economic climate. We must remember that we do not have a good record in the Virgin Islands of planning for the future and making good choices for our long term well being. We are more adept at the quick fix, the cheap route, the stopgap solution.
At least people seem to be paying more attention to the raping of our natural resources for monetary gain. Let's hope this trend continues.
