March 27, 2009 – Gregory Isaacs, slated to appear Saturday night at the Reichhold Center for the Arts with Tarrus Riley has encountered visa problems with the U.S. Embassy and is unable to travel to the U.S. However, reggae superstar Freddie McGregor will appear in his stead backed up by the Live Wyya band.
McGregor, a Jamaican singer, musician and producer, became well known in the 1980s with the release of “Bobby Babylon.” McGregor’s other popular hits include "Big Ship," "Push Comes To Shove," "Just Don't Want To Be Lonely" and "I Was Born A Winner," as well as cover versions of many early reggae standards.
Reichhold Center for the Arts will hold a pre-show party, at 7 p.m. Live Wyya will start the show at 8 p.m. and will provide back up for both Tarrus Riley and McGregor.
“Freddie McGregor has a proven track record,” Reichhold Center Marketing Manager Karen Gutloff said. “We still promise a great reggae show under the stars.”
The night will close out with an after-party on the grounds of the Reichhold Center for the Arts featuring music, light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
