March 26, 2009 — Innovative Cable TV officials today said that an accident at its St. Croix facilities disrupted service to 20 channels served on the island. A V.I. Water and Power Authority crew doing work in the area this morning accidentally cut several underground conduits.
“Technicians are working on assessing the problem and trying to make a determination regarding the length of time it will take to restore the picture on these channels,” Innovative Cable TV President Jennifer Matarangas-King said.
She added that no movie or network channel has been disrupted.
The affected channels include: the Discovery Channel in addition to Discovery Health, Discovery Science, Discovery Kids, Discovery Home, Discovery Times, and the Military Channel, as well as SportsMax, TVG Horseracing, the NFL Network, Tennis Channel, Spike, Comedy Central, TV Land, BBC, Tempo, 3ABN, A&E, and the local Pay-Per-View preview channel.
“We apologize to our subscribers for any inconvenience this may cause. We are working to restore these services as soon as possible,” Matarangas-King said.
