St. Croix Rescue Offers Six-Week Self Defense Course

March 25, 2009 – Self-defense classes will begin at St. Croix Rescue Academy on Monday, March 30. The course is six weeks long, and classes will be held three days a week, Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday mornings at 9 a.m.
Anyone interested in learning to protect themselves is invited to attend. The cost for the six weeks is $100. Master Joshua Espinal, an accomplished martial artist and veteran, will be the instructor. "Master Espinal is an accomplished Martial Artist; a second Dan in Nisei Goju Ryu, fifth Dan in Kaze Senshi Ryu, and second Dan Ja Goju Jitsu Ryu. He is also a veteran of the War in Afghanistan," said Chief Gregory N. Richards.
He will begin the course with aikido and jujitsu leading into aikijutsu.
Participants should wear loose fitting workout clothes. About midway through they will wear their regular clothes so that they will learn to use what they wear or have with them as weapons.
