Undefeated Bucs Hammer Foes

March 18, 2009 — The Winter Power League juggernaut known as the UVI Bucs kept plowing through their competition over the weekend, pushing their perfect record to 7-0.
The Bucs steamrolled over Kush, Forty Plus and Island Mix during three straight days of intense volleyball action at the Charlotte Amalie High School gym.
On Friday, the Bucs beat Kush in three straight sets, rallying behind teammates Tabari Williams and Shawn Seabrookes, whose powerful spikes kept the other team from racking up more than 15 points in each set.
Williams and Seabrookes kept the action going Saturday, helping UVI to close out the game against Forty Plus in another three-set victory.
Sunday evening brought the return of St. Clair "Penny" Hodge, who has been sidelined for two weeks with a knee injury. While opponent Island Mixx won the first set, the Bucs soon got a second wind and took down the opposition in the next three sets.
The team will soon take on Chop Suey in second-round play. The date for the game has not yet been set.
