Library Will Host Big Read Discussion

The National Endowment for the Arts, The Virgin Islands Council on the Arts and the Department of Planning and Natural Resources – Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums invite the public to a free discussion of the book, " A Wizard of Earthsea." The Big Read will take place from 4-6 p.m., on Saturday, March 21, at Florence Williams Public Library. The discussion leaders will be Laurie Christian, program director of LSS Teen Line; Francis D'Eramo, V.I. Superior Court judge; and Carnell Troutman, director of Men's Coalition Rites of Passage.
Ged, the main character in "A Wizard of Earthsea" makes decisions based upon arrogance, hate and impatience. The discussion leaders will show similarities between some of Ged's choices and some of the decisions being made by young adults today in the Virgin Islands. Big Read materials will be available at the discussion.
The event will also be held on Saturday, March 28, at the Enid M. Baa Pubic Library.
For more information, contact Annice Canton of the Enid M. Baa Pubic Library 774- 0630.
