How Do We Use the Land?

Dear Source:
Use of land. I don't think that it is in keeping with our American way of life to prevent anyone from developing his own land however he wants within the existing regulations, whatever they might be. I would be very much against allowing the Government, or anyone else, to prevent me from doing what I want with my land, as long as it conforms with the existing laws and regulations, and I am sure that you feel the same way about your property. Our very way of life is threatened if we allow this to happen. If the Government, which is you and me, believe that the outlying cays should remain undeveloped we should buy them, just as we bought the property for Lindquist Beach. Which is, as we all know, a great asset to this community.
There is a great momentum at this time to limit development; we should use this energy to take a very serious look at our lack of a coherent master plan for the development of the islands of the Virgin Islands, and begin to create a plan that guides the development these islands towards what we want them to be. Our economy depends on Tourism and the US Federal Government for income, no matter what we would like we must take this into consideration in the development of a plan.
