March 9, 2009 – Dockside Bookshop presents a book signing by Karen Isaac, who has written "Karen's Delight – Caribbean Cooking – Native Recipes of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands." It will be held from 1-3 p.m., on Tuesday, March 10.
"Karen's Delight – Caribbean Cooking – Native Recipes of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands" by
Karen A. Isaac
, West Indian Cooking, pp. 84, $25
For decades, Virgin Islands and visitors alike have delighted in the unique taste of St. Thomas Island cuisine. A sip of maubi. A sweet coconut tart, dumb bread and cheese for breakfast and of course, fry fish and johnny cake for lunch or dinner.
While most local recipes are homegrown, there have been a few "master chefs" who perfected the art of preparing our local taste sensations.
Now, for the first time, local chef Karen Isaac reveals the secrets of food preparation that have made her prize-winning meals a must have all over the island.
Karen has been a perennial favorite at Carnival Food Fairs in the past and won the contest her very first time entering. She continues her winning traditions and enters in food fairs of all kinds.
