Triathlon Season Opens on March 8

Feb. 24, 2009 – The 2009 St. Croix triathlon season will begin with the East End Sprint and Try-a-Tri Triathlons, starting at 7 a.m., Sunday, March 8. The race will be held at Cramers Park on the east end of the island.
The Sprint race will begin with a two-lap 800-yard swim. The bike course will be a 14-mile clockwise tour of the East End loop. The 3-mile run will begin with one loop of the park grounds, followed by a trip out to the intersection with the main road and back, and then a repeat of the first two legs.
The Try-a-Tri is designed for beginning triathletes, and will feature one loop of the 400-yard swim course, a six-mile bike ride past Divi Casino, and a 1.5-mile run around the park. Volunteer kayakers are need as well.
Race entry forms can be picked up at Stamina Sports, located in the Bingo Building. For more information, call 719-6749.
