Finally, a Senator Is Listening

Dear Source:
I read my usual Source news this morning and was absolutely thrilled and ecstatic to read Sen. Donastorg's words to the League of Women Voters: "My first legislation will be to repeal Act 6905, which raised the salaries of senators the governor, lieutenant governor and others. I voted against it then, and I will make good on my promise to repeal the legislation." Finally, someone in the Legislature is listening to the citizen's outrage for years now! Why has it taken so long for someone in the Legislature to say this–and why does it have to be an incoming Senator?
A major public trust was severely broken when this sneaky, greedy, self-centered raise was passed at the midnight hour behind closed doors, especially given the facts that very few things had changed to provide the many services for the common person of the VI who struggles to survive. This will not go away until it is repealed! I am hoping that our new Senatorial Body will have the courage to identify the wasteful spending that we have in Government. Until we downsize the bureaucracy and the amount of monies spent on too many manager's salaries eating up our resources and beating decision making to death until we arrive, once again, at nothing being done, we can never change things here in our Islands. I am looking forward to this new Legislature showing some courage and speaking up for the citizens of The VI's. to do what is right and reflects the many voices of the people. Sadly, the last Body did not.
