Jan. 15, 2009 – Winifred Leona Hiss, also known as "Winnie," of LBJ Gardens died on Jan. 9. She was 65 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Charles; son, Isaac Anthony Jr.; grandchildren: Ayinde and Jamal Hiss; great-grandchildren: Iyahnna and Nazir Hiss; sisters: Doreen Chesterfield, Benicia Coleman, Gladys Chesterfield Davis and Beverly Chesterfield Smith; and brother, Earl Chesterfield Jr. She is also survived by cousins: Rita Phillips, Corliss Nathaniel and Lt. Governor Gregory Francis; special friends: Ruth Barton, James McNamara, Norman Edwards, Rachel King and family, Carmen Nunez; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing at 10 a.m., and a funeral service at 11 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Lord God of Sabaoth Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
