Gregory R. Francis Appointed to Executive Committee of NLGA

Jan. 15, 2009 – Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis has been elected to serve on the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) Executive Committee in the Democratic position for the East Region-at-Large, according to a press release from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. The NLGA is the professional association for the elected officials who are first in line of succession to the governors in the 50 states and five territories.
"I look forward to working with the Executive Committee and staff of the NLGA to further the objectives of this important body," said Lt. Gov. Francis. The lieutenant governor will work with his colleagues to advance programs for the benefit of the constituents in the states and territories. Locally, Francis has implemented NLGA-led initiatives by leading programs to raise awareness of cervical cancer and asthma.
Francis was elected to the NLGA Executive Committee by a bi-partisan vote of his colleagues. "His peers of both parties are asking him to join in leading on issues which impact all states and territories," says NLGA Executive Director Julia Hurst.
Francis will represent the region comprised of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and the Virgin Islands.
