Culinary Class Preps Meals for 'Taste of Two Islands'

Nov. 4, 2008 – Culinary Arts students at the Raphael Wheatley Skill Center – Virgin Islands Career & Technical Institute, led by Chef/Instructor Leslie Gumbs, captain of the territory's culinary arts team, will take part in the annual A Taste of Two Islands. The event will be hosted by WTJX on Thursday evening, Nov. 6. The collaborative activity is being held with the USVI Tourism Department and the Culinary Team, according to Principal Dahlia Adams.
The students will begin preparations of various foods at the Skill Center on Thursday morning "This is a very exciting venture for a students and it promises to be quite a learning experience for them to actually be a part of the event." Adams added. "We are celebrating career month at the Skill Center and this is our biggest activity for the observance."
