Brief: Court Clerk Found Dead

Oct. 29, 2008 – The body of 27-year-old Gabriel L. Lerner, a V.I. Superior Court law clerk reported missing early Tuesday afternoon, was found on the west end of St. Thomas just after midnight Wednesday.
Two suspects, a minor whose name cannot be released and 22-year-old Devon A. Frett, have been charged with robbing, kidnaping and killing Lerner after he stopped near Cassi Hill in Smith Bay to give them a ride early Sunday morning.
Information provided by the minor led investigators to the body, law enforcement officials said during an advice of rights hearing Wednesday in Superior Court.
Frett is being held without bail. Nothing is known about the minor and won’t be unless it is decided that he be tried as an adult, according to court personnel.
Details of advice of rights hearing will follow shortly.
