Aug. 7, 2008 – The V.I. Department of Education will pay 100 percent of tuition costs and associated fees for one, three-credit course at the University of the Virgin Islands for the fall 2008 session for the territory's public school teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff (to include administrators), according to a press release from the V.I. Department of Education.
All of the courses offered to paraprofessionals will be at the undergraduate level, while courses offered to teachers and other non-teaching staff can be either at the graduate or undergraduate levels. Paraprofessionals must enroll in education courses or other courses leading to an education degree, while other non-teaching staff must enroll in a course related to duties they perform at the department.
The sign-up period will be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., from Wednesday, Aug. 6 through Wednesday, Aug. 13. Because the number of available courses is limited, those interested are asked to act quickly as the selections will be made on a first come, first serve basis. No phone sign-ups are allowed. Personnel are reminded that course textbooks are the responsibility of the individual and reimbursement to the department will be required in the event they fail a course.
For more information, visit the Department's Division of Human Resources Offices or call 772-3848, ext. 25, 26 or 33; or 774-0100, ext. 8052 or 8055.
