The public is invited to attend a gala grand opening of Cindy Male Studios from 4-8 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 15. The opening will be at her new locale in the turquoise part of the Tool Box Building, near Country Day School.
Featured art will include driftwood and bamboo pieces by Leslie Cramer; Male's Taino Chu-chr fabric installation pieces; and Virgin Islands "at risk" youth depicting their dreams in images as well as making Male's patented Rhythm Light Reflectors. There will also be a 20-minute presentation by Male on "The Caribbean Artistic and Cultural Tradition in a Globalizing World," which is the same speech she delivered to an Art and Heritage Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia this summer.
