Sorority Invites Public to Join in Their Centennial Walk

June 12, 2008 – Local members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.-Sigma Theta Omega Chapter will hold an ESP 1908 Global Centennial Walk that will begin at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 28, at Nisky Center and will end at John Brewer's Bay with a mini Safety Fair.
The walk will be synchronized with other members of the organization around the globe and will be based on their time zones to take 1,908 steps or two miles to raise awareness of fitness and to step towards the birthplace of the sorority, Washington, D.C., which is where the sorority's national convention will be held in July.
Sigma Theta Omega invites organizations, health groups, the community, family and friends to walk for emotional, spiritual and physical health. For further information, contact Laurel Hewitt-Sewer at 693-8931.
