Monthly UVICELL Workshop on Management Skills Offered

April 17, 2008 – The University of the Virgin Islands – Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) Center will host the fourth of its monthly Management Skills workshops. Launched in February, the series is designed to help managers develop and refine the skills needed to manage the workforce more effectively.
The fourth workshop in the 10-part series, entitled "Performance Appraisals: Strategies for Success," will be held 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Friday, May 2, at the UVICELL Center, UVI campus, St. Thomas.
The workshop will focus on establishing standards of performance and effectively managing the process. Participants will be equipped with the skills to assess past performance and set achievable objectives, use a seven-step format to prepare a written performance review, deal with disciplinary issues and documentation, coach employees to improve performance and much more.
The workshops are being held in collaboration with the American Management Association (AMA). Participants may elect to complete six of the workshops offered to obtain a Certificate in Management Skills in the Workplace from the UVI and the AMA.
