Grucci Pyrotechnics to Close Carnival 2008

April 15, 2008 — The world-renowned Grucci family of Brookhaven, N.Y. has once again been commissioned to produce the fireworks finale to V.I. Carnival
If other years are any indication the show will start promptly at 9 p.m., Saturday, April 26.. The "Fireworks Spectacular" is supported in part by assistance from Tropical Shipping, Boynes Trucking Systems and Crowley Maritime, according to a release from organizer Steve Bornn at Left Lane Productions, which is orchestrating the show.
Staged from a barge strategically placed in the inner-harbor cove between Frederiksberg Point (old pump house) and King’s Wharf (Legislature grounds), the 26-minute Fireworks By Grucci display is designed to be viewed best from ground level, Bornn said. Much like last year's unique production, this year's display will include what Bornn described as unique “character” pyrotechnic designs.
Last year's presentation included designer shells and patterns such as smiley faces.
Bornn reiterated the best spots to fully enjoy the custom-designed pyrotechnics display are downtown at Carnival Village and its adjacent waterfront area — not from the mountainsides.
"The show will feature sequences designed for such viewing in close proximity," he said, adding that the fireworks program is intended to encourage attendance downtown in the Last Lap of Carnival which closes with a Virgin Islands version of the popular Trinidad calypso tent called “Calypso Spetakular.”
Some boats normally anchored in the area will be required to re-locate for a brief period. No boats will be allowed within the firing zone unless authorized.
