Alert: Telephone Lines to WAPA Sub Base Down

April 14, 2008 – Normal telephone service into the V.I.Water and Power Authority’s Sub Base business office on St. Thomas has been interrupted and is likely to remain so until Tuesday afternoon.
A vital telephone cable was damaged when a backhoe digging the footings for a generator platform to be installed at WAPA's Sub-base building hit it. . Innovative Telephone personnel have had an opportunity to survey the damage, WAPA spokeswoman Cassandra Dunn said in a release, and will immediately begin repairs. It is anticipated that repairs will be completed by Tuesday afternoon.
Customers with electric emergencies should call 774-1424 or with water emergencies call 775-5873. Customers can reach St. Thomas customer service representatives by calling 773-2250 and pressing extensions 2114, 2115, 2117, or 2111. Customers will be unable to pay their WAPA bills on-line; however, payments can be made by telephone between 8 am. and 5 p.m. to 773-2250 extension 2137.
