CCT Presents 'Grace & Glorie'

April 8, 2008 – Caribbean Community Theatre presents the dramatic comedy "Grace & Glorie" for a two-week run. Performances will be held at 8 p.m., on Friday and Saturday evenings, April 11-12 and 18-19, and there will be two Sunday matinees, at 4 p.m., on April 13 and 20.
The play is a dramatic comedy by Tom Ziegler, who, with his wife Shirley, recently joined the ranks of St. Croix residents. CCT had to postpone the opening weekend from its originally scheduled date due to unexpected scheduling difficulties, and we thank you all for your patience. The set, which has been designed and painted by the playwright, will transport you to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where the elderly Grace Stiles, played by Melody Harris, is nonplussed to discover on her doorstep her total opposite in the person of Gloria Whitmore (Lorraine Durand), a wealthy New Yorker who has taken up volunteer work because "it's expected" of people in her position. The discoveries they make about themselves and each other make for a vibrant mix of comedy and drama. The play has been performed previously in theaters all over the States, in Canada and Europe, and as a Hallmark television production featuring Gena Rowlands as Grace and Diane Lane as Glorie.
Both Tom and Shirley Ziegler have been on hand to help with all aspects of the production and their many years of experience with both amateur and professional theater make them welcome additions to the CCT community. Mr. Ziegler, who has for many years taught playwrighting and set design at Washington and Lee University in Virginia, will be present at the April 13 matinee for a Q&A session after the performance. Members are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion
All performances will be at the Caribbean Community Theatre, No. 18 Estate Orange Grove, Christiansted. Tickets are sold at the door: $15 for adults and $8 for students. No reservations; arrive early for best seating. This show is not recommended for children under age 13.
