Sept. 13, 2007 – Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen today congratulated Ometh La Corbiniere, president of Kelley’s Cleaning Services on St. Croix on being selected to receive the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Graduate Firm of the Year Award. The award recognizes minority businesses that have completed the 8(a) program for their success.
“I am proud and excited to have one of our local businesses recognized nationally,” Congresswoman Christensen said. La Corbiniere will receive the award at this year’s National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Conference Gala on Friday, September 14, 2007 in Washington, DC. “Although I will not be able to join her at this auspicious event because of a prior commitment, my staff will attend and will be presenting her with a Congressional Certificate of Special Recognition.”
This year’s National MED week marks the 25th year that SBA has joined the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency as a partner in highlighting the achievements of minority-owned businesses.
“Small businesses are the cornerstone of our economy and a main source of employment in our community and throughout the nation,” Congresswoman Christensen said. “As a former member of the House Committee on Small Business and a former business owner, I support small businesses like Kelley’s Cleaning Services and their contribution to the viability of our community.”
