Brief: Shooting Victim Identified

Aug. 28, 2007 — Police have identified the body of a man found shot to death in Estate La Grange Thursday as 20-year-old Jeremy Rodriguez, a resident of that community.
Police have yet to determine a motive and do not have any suspects, police spokeswoman Monyka Johnigan said Monday afternoon.
“It was a drive-by shooting,” said Johnigan. Several concerned citizens called police around 1:07 a.m. Thursday after hearing shots fired and a vehicle speeding away in the La Grange area north of Frederiksted. Johnigan said police would not reveal the exact location where the body was found, only saying it was on a public road.
Rodriguez was shot multiple times, sustaining gunshots to the face and abdomen, Johnigan said. Police responded to the scene and found the victim still alive, but Rodriguez died at the hospital at approximately 3:23 a.m.
Police are still searching for a black Honda they believe may be connected to the shooting. The Police Department asks that anyone with information on these or any other crimes call 712-6076 or dial 911.
