CCT Revives Children's Theater Program

Aug. 14, 2007 – The Caribbean Community Theatre is reviving the Calico Cat Company, a children's theater program, which flourished 19 years ago before Hurricane Hugo destroyed the theater building. CCT has continued to entertain St. Croix audiences in a number of venues since that time until settling into its current quarters in Christiansted at 18 Orange Grove.
Students who join the company will learn acting, singing, dancing, set-building, playwriting, stagecraft, public speaking and, most importantly, the value of teamwork and self-confidence. The goal of the program is to expose children to the theatrical arts while at the same time teaching valuable skills that will help them in all facets of their lives. CCT plans to produce shows for other young children to attend such as Where the Wild Things Are performed live onstage.
The children's theater arts program is open to students in grades 3-6. Classes will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m., on Wednesdays, at the CCT Theatre. The first semester will commence on Sept. 12 and continue through the beginning of December. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 5. Tuition is $200/per semester and scholarships are available.
