Aug. 7, 2007 The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands/Anderson Family Fund is accepting applications for the 2007 Teacher Grants, according to a press release from CFVI's President Dee Baecher-Brown.
The Teacher Grants Program provides funding on a competitive basis for projects that will improve student achievement. Individuals or partners may request from $250 to $1,000 to implement an innovative project in their classrooms and schools. Grant awards must supplement school activities and resources, not replace local or federal funding.
Up to $20,000 in grants will be awarded. Teachers, assistant teachers and guidance counselors in the public school system of the Virgin Islands are eligible to receive this funding. Priority will be given to proposals where students are directly involved in the project, the project description is clear and well organized, creative strategies and activities are used to improve student learning, outcomes are measurable and substantive, the budget is realistic and the funds will be used efficiently.
Successful applicants must agree to submit a brief written report and, if possible, contribute visual documentation on the use of the grant at the end of the funding period. Any applicant who was a recipient of a 2006 Anderson Teachers Grant must submit a brief written final report on the use of the 2006 grant in order to be eligible for a grant in 2007.
All proposals must be submitted to CFVI no later than 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28. Applications can be downloaded from CFVI's Web site at www.cfvi.net.
