Alvin O. Morton Dies at 59

Aug. 6, 2007 – Alvin Morton, better known as "Morton," who lived at Hospital Ground, died on July 27, at the age of 59.
He held numerous positions in several departments in the Virgin Islands Government including the Department of Finance; Housing, Parks and Recreation and at the V.I. Legislature in the office of Senator White. He was promoted to director of facilities management and was later the special assistant to the St. John/Water Island Administrator Barbara Petersen. Morton was active in many softball and baseball leagues, serving as coach for a little league baseball team as well as AA baseball teams, as an umpire and team manager.
He is survived by his mother, Cleolyn Marsh; father, James R. Morton; sons: Kareem Olando Morton and Kishaun Olando Morton; and daughter, Kishma Marie Morton. Other survivors include sisters: Bianca Dazle and Mariana Ludvig; grandchildren: Kareem Olando Morton Jr. and Kaliyha Crawford; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 10, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. A second viewing will take place from 9-10 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 11, at Christ Church Methodist, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., at the church. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 3.
