Dear Source:
Hats off to Commissioner McCall and the VIPD and other agencies for raiding the Contant crack house. There are many, many more crack houses in our community. Many more in Contant and many more in Savan. There are also crack "yards" around our island, complete with sheds that can be rented by crackheads who smoke 24/7.
All the VIPD needs to do is set up a dedicated phone line for the community to use to report the locations of the crack houses. News is that certain police officers are paid to look the other way, so make the line secure. The other side of this story has not yet been written and that is what to do with the crackheads who don't want help. Aren't these people a danger to themselves? What about using our psych ward to put them away for a few days and then have a support system for those who want to get clean but don't know how and don't have the resources to pay for rehab? This is the flip side of the coin. Are we going to do anything about this scourge or are we going to look the other way?
