Fort Frederik Museum Is Undergoing Restoration

May 18, 2007 – The Fort Frederik Museum, in collaboration with the State Historic Preservation Office, has begun a conservation/restoration project at the museum. Through the assistance of funds provided by the Public Finance Authority, the work at the museum will entail the silicate painting of select exterior walls and the renovations of the commandant's quarters, the restrooms and other interior projects, according to a press release from the Department of Planning and Natural Resources.
The project began on Monday, May 14, and is scheduled to take approximately six months. Although areas of the museum will be inaccessible to the public, it will remain open during the project. The hours of operation at the Fort Frederik Museum are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; it is closed on weekends and holidays.
For additional information, call the State Historic Preservation Office at 773-1082, ext. 2208 or the Fort Frederik Museum at 772-2021.
