Delegate Brings Home Ownership Discussion to St. John

May 3, 2007 – Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen invites the St. John community to attend a home ownership workshop. It will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 5, at the Bethany Moravian Church Hall. She will present the workshop in conjunction with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's With Ownership Wealth (WOW) program. The focus will be on the impact of current development on St. John on affordable housing and local ownership, according to a press release from the Office of the Delegate to Congress.
Confirmed participants include: Leona Smith, St. John administrator; Emmett Hansen, ESGR executive director; Robert deJongh, local architect; Clifford Graham, director of V.I. Housing Finance; Liza Trey, housing advocate; Lucy Pitterson, chair of Producir of Puerto Rico; Jose Penn, St. John businessman and community activist; Keith Raboteau, V.I. Housing Authority chief of staff; Sharon Coldren, Coral Bay Community Council president; and Sen.-at-large Carmen Wesselhoft.
"We must find a community based strategy to address affordable housing and homeownership needs in the territory, especially on St. John, where the need is so great," said Christensen.
